DEVOTION and the CHRIM Mentorship in partnership with BReaTH Program presented speakers from NSERC, CIHR, Research Manitoba and Mitacs who spoke about the contents of a compelling studentship/ fellowship application, including:
1. What makes your application strong?
2. What do you need to include to tip the balance in your favour?
3. What are you missing from your application?

Childhood Arthritis and Beyond 2019 Meeting: April 23-26, 2019 at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
The meeting will bring together world-renowned academic and industry experts, clinicians, researchers, patients and their families to connect with each other, to lessons learned in childhood arthritis and to build the future of research in childhood arthritis. In addition to the symposium, presentations and panel discussion, attendees can enjoy spring skiing, barn line dancing, a fun-and-dance filled dinner party and the exchange with colleagues and community members in one of Canada's most magical places.
The conference will start Tuesday evening April 23 and end Friday at noon April 26, followed by kicking off a Charity Bike Ride across the Rockies! The conference is open to all physicians, allied health professionals, nurses, trainees, and whomever else has an interest in attending.

“Moving toward family-centred and culturally informed care: maternal, birth and infant outcomes for a cohort of women who travelled for Birth in Manitoba, 2007-2017”
The aim of this dissertation is to generate the necessary evidence and uncover some truths about present day childbirth policy. It also aims to include strength and cultural-based lenses to improve healthcare services for pregnant First Nation women and improve maternal child healthcare pathways. Ultimately the study aims to support efforts to address the TRC Calls to Action, leading to improved maternal and infant outcomes.

The 2019 Scientific Meeting of the Canadian DOHaD Society: February 11-12, 2019 in Mont Tremblant, Quebec
The conference will bring together a multidisciplinary group of biomedical researchers, clinician scientists, epidemiologists, population health scientists, industry representatives and policy leaders from across Canada who share a common interest in the field of DOHaD. The program is designed to address the priorities of the DOHaD community in Canada, as well as to offer mentoring, networking, and collaboration opportunities.
The scientific program includes three thematic sessions:

Epigenetics and Omics Mechanisms Underlying DOHaD,

Vulnerable and At Risk Populations,
-
Solution-Oriented DOHaD Research.
The program will include Keynote addresses by Tessa Roseboom (Dutch famine birth cohort; University of Amsterdam) and Dr. Robert A. Waterland (Nutritional influences on developmental epigenetics; Baylor College of Medicine).
The meeting will also feature talks by invited Canadian speakers and trainees, an Outreach, Networking and Collaboration event.
